Dear Friends,

This Sunday we will conclude our sermon series on the story of David as found in 2 Samuel 9:1-13. We have explored episodes in the life of David from a young shepherd, anointed to be the King of Israel by the prophet Samuel, his covenant friendship with Jonathan, his resistance to revenge on Saul and his affair with Bathsheba. Through all of these episodes we have seen how God has been working out a story of salvation through the kingship and charisma of David for the blessing of God’s people Israel. What kind of king should the King of Israel be? What does the King of Israel look like in attitude and action? How does the reign of the King of Israel look different than other rulers? This week we will explore the story of David and Mephibosheth who was the son of Jonathan. David’s attitude and actions towards Mephibosheth remind us of an unmerited grace and compassion that is extended towards us. David welcomes Mephibosheth as an adopted son with all the rights and privileges as a child of the king.  Kind of like us when you think about it! We too are adopted and loved as the sons and daughters of God through our King Jesus. So please join me on Sunday as we explore a sermon called “Room At The Table”.

I want to extend our thoughts and prayers to Pat and Compton on the passing of Pat’s mum Lucille K. Lucille was a dedicated servant of Christ and a faithful member of Trafalgar Presbyterian Church. Pat and Compton have been wonderful caregivers over the past several years. Once arrangements are made we will pass on the details.

I also want to thank John Roe for his short term missionary and liaison work in Nicaragua at Llama De Fuego (Formerly Presbyterians Aiding Nicaraguans) and the sewing centre ministry. He will be reporting  to the Mission and Outreach Committee and to Session with some pics and updates. We thank him for his work.

Have a great day

Blessings,

Pastor Ian.
