Community Garden
Community Garden
We started with 5 plots in 2015 and today, we have 31.
Rental fee for the summer:
large plot = $50
small plot = $30
Each plot comes with composted soil and water access.
In the first 2 years, water was transported from the church, across the parking lot, to the garden’s water tanks.
In Year 3, Nutri-Lawn franchisee and Clarkson Road Presbyterian congregant, Cam Hansuld, worked for free to run a water line down to the garden to make refilling the water tanks much easier.
Thank you, Cam!
Our Sunday School students planted the first plot.
That year, they grew 400lbs of food for Eden Food for Change.
Glenbrook children and youth learned how to take care of a garden and how to care for the poor and hungry among us.
It was also a relief for Sunday School teachers to send this bunch outdoors….
The garden is self-sufficient financially and runs under the auspices of the EMCC.
Chris Starkey (with the occasional helping hand of the garden crew) maintains two or three plots each year. Produce in these plots is donated to The Raw Carrot.
Other gardeners with excess produce donate to Eden Food For Change.
