Dear Friends,

This coming Sunday we will welcome Dr. Victor Shepherd as our preacher who will focus his message on the Aaronic Blessing.

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

the Lord make his face to shine upon you,

and be gracious to you;

the Lord lift up his countenance upon you,

and give you peace.”  (Numbers 6:22-27)

Victor is a pastor, teacher and theologian and I am so glad to have him and Maureen as a part of our Glenbrook congregation. More recently Victor has just completed a short term ministry of preaching and pastoral leadership at Maple Presbyterian Church. Moreover, Victor continues to teach at Tyndale University as Professor Emeritus of Theology as well as University of Toronto as teacher and supervisor in graduate studies. He has written 12 books and currently I am enjoying his book “The Committed-Self: An Introduction To Existentialism For Christians.”

(For more information about Victor please see the following website. If you are interested in taking courses at Tyndale this will link you to more information about what is offered)

I will be helping to lead worship at the beginning of the service on Sunday. I will be leaving to join another congregation in our Presbytery, to follow through with some responsibilities that the Presbytery has tasked me to fulfill.

Our congratulations to Dr. Brian Irwin on his book launch this Saturday at Knox College. As we know Brian’s book is being well received and we pray that it will encourage Christian discipleship across the church and many academic settings.

Also our congratulations to Samantha Black on her graduation from the Master of Pastoral Studies Programme at Knox (TST/U of T). Her graduation ceremony will take place this Saturday (May 25th). The ceremony can be linked to on-line as the number of guests per graduate is limited to 5.

Have a lovely weekend

Pastor Ian
