Hello Glenbrook!
I hope your week has been wonderful, and that this weekend is full of rest and relaxation. Last week I told you about a really cool mystery picnic we went on...it turned out to be really cool! We stopped at 6-7 different places in downtown Elora, and each place had a small part of a picnic ready for us. By the end, we got to Victoria Park with charcuterie, bagels, homemade scones, custom herbed butter and creme fraiche, macarons, tarts, juices, sparkling cider, and foccacia! It was so much food, and we had a great time exploring afterwards. Once we ate and I was no longer a hungry gremlin, we doubled back and hit some of the quaint little shops we had passed by in between our stops. It was a great way to spend the day, and a cool way to explore a town!
The church has felt really alive and full of energy this week. St. Thomas has had a camp for children, and it has been great to see the kids running around, playing, and having an awesome time. I overheard some making friends with one another...it brought me back to our days running VBS and how incredible it was as a child camper, and as a teenage volunteer. It would be great to put on something like that again one day!
Missions and Outreach
Glenbrook has been a great supporter of The Open Door Outreach Ministry to the community of Mississauga.
We hold gift card drives, offer clothing and toiletry donations, and provide food to serve to the many patrons of this ministry.
This latter service, of the provision of monthly Lunch foods is what the Mission and Outreach committee would like to bring to your attention today.
Planning NOW will ensure shared support for what is a growing and incredible need!
Next Sunday August 18th following the church service we will hold a meeting about Open Door Lunches. The aim is to determine involvement availability, set up some achievable menu ideas and find creative ways to allow all skills and personalities to get involved in this ministry. The best part of a meeting is being able to work together with you, the people who can make a wonderful difference.
Let's make an impact and address the need for nutrition and community.
