International Dinner
Our (hopefully annual) International Dinner, which took place on Saturday, November 16, was a great evening filled with food and laughter.
Volunteers decorated our sanctuary with flags from all the nations on earth. Each table had puzzles and quizzes. Can you think of a country starting with the letter ‘W’? Wakanda does not count.
Many volunteers helped Sam set up the food tables. Sam created the room design and printed the flags. The dessert table was laden with butter tarts and shortbread cookies from our Canadian and Scottish congregants.
Indonesian ladies stood proudly behind their offering of beef rendang and yellow rice. Meanwhile, the Trinidadians were determined to feed the entire church by themselves.
Someone <cough, cough, Chris, cough> brought ketchup chips as his Canadian contribution. Monica made a Jamaican Christmas Black Cake. We demolished and devoured that cake.
At 5:00 p.m. sharp, Sam said grace and we started to fill our plates. Many people found their plate full before they reached the second table.
We had a wonderful time of eating and fellowship. At the end of the evening, people were invited to take leftovers home. My service tray was blessedly empty so I piled chicken paprikash, beef rendang, goat curry, scotch eggs, and macaroni and cheese into it. I had Conrad’s spam musubi for breakfast.
I call this a win-win-win situation.
