January 10, 2025

I hope this week has been treating you well. I know that almost everyone I know has been sick in the last few weeks and there are MANY things going around that really seem to stick for several weeks. So please stay safe, mask up, and wash your hands a lot!

This week has been busy, but pretty fun. You may have noticed Mike’s dad, Chris, was in attendance last week. After the service, we drove to Brantford and watched an OHL game of the Brantford (formerly Hamilton) Bulldogs vs. the Ottawa 67s. It was genuinely a fun game - great atmosphere, ridiculous pyrotechnics, lots of “gloves off” moments. A small, 7-year-old child sitting in front of us got so excited after the first goal, he ripped his shirt off, swung it around his head, and sent it flying in his excitement. His parents were less than thrilled. The Bulldogs ended up taking the game in overtime!

Welcome Andrea!
Andrea (or ‘Drea!) has had her first week at Glenbrook! We are orienting her to a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff right now. If you are available during the week Tuesday-Friday between 9-12, please come by and say hello! It’ll be great for her to put faces to names and get an idea of not just the official roles, but the unofficial roles of folks here at Glenbrook.

Annual General Meeting
Please note there will be a new date for the Annual General Meeting. Please mark in your calendars Sunday March 2nd after the service. While the meeting is pushed to March, I do ask that reports are still sent to me by January 24th at the latest. As I am exiting the role of Admin Assistant, I will need to have these reports by this date so I can train Andrea on how to assemble the reports and prepare for the meeting. Thank you for your understanding!

Joint Board & Session
If you are a part of Session and/or the Board of Managers, please mark in your calendars that January 21st will be a joint meeting. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Winter 2025 Bible Study
Starting Tuesday, January 14th we will resume our usual bible study time! This new topic will be on Women of the New Testament. This is going to be a very interesting study and has been brought forth by our study group as a topic to focus on. If you are interested in joining, just let us know and we will make sure you have the study material! Looking forward to seeing you!

New Members
If you have been coming to Glenbrook for a bit and are considering joining as a member, please let myself or Pastor Ian know! We will be running a Membership Seminar in several weeks and would love to have you join.

Men’s Lunch of the Month
Are you hungry? Gentlemen of Glenbrook, we invite you to join for the monthly lunch gathering on Wednesday, January 15th at 12:00 noon. This month, we will be meeting at Lena’s Roti (3105 Winston Churchill Blvd). If you were at the International Dinner, you will know how incredible the food is! If you are joining, please sign up in the lobby or let George T know.

January Schedule of Volunteers
Please let me know if there are any dates which I need to change or move for you 😊 If you would like to join the volunteer team even once every few months, let me know!
