August 30, 2024
We are finishing up the last week of August, and this Sunday entering into September. I hope all of the teachers and students have a blessed and easy back to school experience, and that all of those in jobs who have some kind of shift in the fall are energized! It will be the first September in many years I won't have classes or school, so I am looking forward to focusing on work. This Sunday we are thrilled to welcome back Dr. Victor Shepherd who will be taking care of the sermon. I know that last week we were all blown away--I had to go back and listen again to write down notes I had missed because there were so many rich moments of wisdom. Let us welcome him back this Labour Day Long Weekend!

Missions - Open Door Lunches (from Cynthia)
Just as Glenbrook has done in the past we once again will be inviting the congregation to participate once a month, in providing food items to offer patrons of The Open Door to partake of. This first Lunch comes upon us with little notice as it will be THIS COMING THURSDAY.
In the lobby on Sunday you will see a bulletin board display of recipes for a one-pot type warm food item for each of the 4 Lunches we are currently signed up to cover.
THIS THURSDAY we will need 6 people to pre-prepare/cook a " Cheesy Chicken and Rice Casserole". The recipe will be provided and the casserole just needs to be at the church for 11am on Thursday.
Thank you to all who have offered to cover bread products, juices, vegetarian options and dessert for each of the 4 dates.
# is 905-781-1244.
We need 2 more people to agree to cook and deliver to the church the suggested casserole. Here is the recipe for anyone interested. Cheesy Chicken and Rice Casserole - Thriving Home

This cheesy chicken and rice casserole is healthier than most--filled with veggies, brown rice, and chicken--but...

Bible Study – October 1st
I know it seems kind of far away. But September is going to be moving fast, and it will be here before you know it! If you are interested in joining our Tuesday morning bible study, mark your calendar. We will let you know closer to which study we will be focusing on for the fall season.
Christianity Explored – October 3rd
After an incredible course run this summer, we are once again going to be offering the Christianity Explored in the fall. This is a great course for anyone who is questioning their faith, looking to get a better understanding of Christianity, considering Christianity, or would like to go back to the basics in their own faith. This is also a great course for those considering baptism into the faith. Please let me know if you are interested in signing up, and we will give you all the course information closer to!
Accommodations Needed
If you or someone you know has knowledge of a room, an apartment, or some kind of affordable living space available for rent please let me know. We have several folks in the congregation looking for living accommodation and we'd love to pair them up with someone in need of a roommate or a tenant.
Needed – Child's Bike Helmet
If you or someone you know has a child sized bike helmet no longer in use, please let me know. We have need of one to donate to alongside a wonderful little bike to a child...but we cannot give a bike without a helmet!
September Schedule of Volunteers
Hi All! I will be creating the September schedule shortly. Please let me know if there are dates which you are unavailable in the fall season. Please also note we will do lemonade on the lawn while the weather is still hot! The transition to indoor coffee will come shortly :)
