November 15, 2024
Hello Glenbrook,
I hope you’ve been staying dry in the last several days. It seems the weather is finally reflecting the season and I have been relishing wrapping myself in a cozy blanket, pulling on giant wool socks, and making a big cup of tea each evening (aka like 4pm ha ha ha). This week, we are celebrating our niece’s 8th birthday! Anna is actually almost reaching my height, whichmeans she will be towering over me by 9. For her birthday, Mike and I are taking her to Toronto to see The Lion King production at Mirvish! Although we won’t be going until the New Year, so we got her a lion stuffie and a Lion King necklace so she has something on the actual day. Ironically, taking me to this production was also the birthday gift Mike got ME for my birthday. So…basically Mike got both me, his 32 year old fiancée, and his 8year old niece the same gift for our birthdays and we are both equally psyched about it ha ha ha. November is a big month for the de Jourdan nieces. Next week would be Mary’s 6th birthday, and the weekend after is Emily’s 2nd birthday. So next weekend we’ll be getting together and celebrating with a big family party 😊
This Sunday we are thrilled to welcome a guest preacher, Rev. Glen Kukkola to Glenbrook! His message will be The Power of the Undervalued and Underestimated. Glenn is a friend of the congregation going back many years to his time as a Youth Pastor at St. Andrew’s Streetsville Presbyterian Church. Glenn has spent the past decade teaching architecture in Türkiye.
International Dinner - TOMORROW
The International Dinner is TOMORROW, November 16th at 4:00pm. Thank you to everyone who has signed up to come! If you are bringing a dish, please comefor around 4:00pm so we can organize and get things set up. We are going to be eating at 5:00pm and believe me it is going to be GOOD. I would also appreciate if you could send in a recipe – whether it is the recipe you used for this dish, your favourite recipe, or one that just reminds you of home.
I would love to get those in so we can compile a recipe book of our family.
See you tomorrow!
Christmas Concert
This year, our Christmas Concert will be held on Saturday, December 14th at

Also for those who have Christmas dinner plans will have time to do so after the concert. If you would like a ride to or from the concert, please let us know.
Please note a slight change in time for practice starting this week - this
Thursday please come at 7:00pm in the sanctuary. See you there with bells on!
Annual Seniors Christmas Luncheon

Open Door Gift Card Drive
As the Christmas Season approaches, we put forth the opportunity to participate in the Glenbrook tradition of an Open Door Gift Card Drive.
We once again will be collecting $25 or better still for a whole family, a $50 Walmart gift card. These cards are mailed out to families to give them the dignity of shopping for gifts or for Christmas Meal items for themselves. The cards are needed as soon as possible and can be dropped in a basket on the offering table in the sanctuary. (If you wish for someone to shop for these cards for you then you can etransfer the amount of your donation via the new etransfer email
This endeavour has come up fast and at a time so soon after your generosity has been proven, but NEED exists in an ongoing manner all around us.
Thanks in advance for supporting the Open Door.
Open Door AGM
Last week the Open Door held their AGM and it was a wonderful evening of sharing how God is blessing this ministry. Please find the report attached.

Upcoming Workshop – Biblical Foundations for Narratives of Hope
The Rev. Dr. Patricia Dutcher-Walls, Moderator of the 2024 General Assembly of The Presbyterian Church in Canada, will lead this in-person workshop forboth clergy and laity. It will consider tales of hope from the Bible that lay a foundation for our own stories of hope and possibility.
